Australian actress Abbie Cornish, Mate, Exposed in Esquire

Australian actress Abbie Cornish is one of a new pack of young actresses making their mark in Hollywood. While her action-fantasy film “Sucker Punch” flopped, Cornish managed to emerge with her hotness unscathed, judging by a new Esquire UK photo shoot.

Cornish is also an aspiring singer. She told the magazine she wants to record an album as soon as she can find time in her schedule.

And busy, she is. Cornish, 28, next plays Wally in the film “W.E.” about the notorious love affair between Wallis Warfield Simpson and King Edward VIII of England. Madonna directed the period piece.

She also starred opposite Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in the Neil Burger -directed techno-thriller “Limitless.”

For Esquire, Cornish posed for noted photographer Rankin and talks to the magazine about her music career and filming sexy scenes.

Cornish has performed for years with the Australian rap crew Blades under the name Dusk.

“I would love to play here in Los Angeles… and record an album.”

“I got into DJing and making beats when I was about 17,” she told Esquire.

“I was always fascinated by the four elements of hip-hop; writing, rhyming, breakdancing and graffiti. I’m in a crew now. I love it. It’s a huge part of my life.”

Cornish has a laid back Aussie attitude about movie sexy scenes. She always looks at her co-stars as “mates,” which makes things easier.

“With friends, if someone’s pants don’t come off properly, or if something gets stuck, you just end up giggling,” she told the magazine.

Abbie added: “Alligators have two eyelids; a clear set, so they can see, and another one which is opaque.

“It’s like that when you’re acting those scenes. You’re looking through the clear eyelids. So it’s not me doing the scene with Bradley, it’s my character.”

Her three-year relationship with Ryan Phillippe ended last year, and the intense media scrutiny was unsettling for her.

“It was a really difficult time for me. I was thrust into this realm of paparazzi and coverage that I’d never been exposed to,” she said.

Showing off her gorgeous looks for all to see, Abbie Cornish is featured in the April 2011 issue of GQ magazine.
The Aussie hottie donned skimpy ensembles including a bodysuit by Louis Vuitton and a hot blouse from Tom Ford for the Mark Abrahams shot spread.
The GQ appearance comes as Miss Cornish is gearing up for the release of her new movie “Sucker Punch” – which hits theaters this Friday, March 25th.
Playing a character named Sweet Pea, Abbie was recently asked by TeenHollywood to share her strongest memory from the film.
To this, she replied, “When you ask that question, so many things flash through my mind, so many images, so many moments, I don’t know how I could possibly pick one over the other. It’s really hard. I could generalize and say the training or the friendships with the girls, but for me my memories are much more specific, much more detailed. It could be as simple as the smile on Zack’s face the first time we walked to set, the glimmer in Damon Caro’s eyes as all their choreography pieces were coming together. The sound of Jena’s laugh. I could go on forever.”
